Square Launches in Canada With Free Mobile Card Readers

Easy commerce for everyone (real name ‘Square’) has finally stepped into Canadian territory. The service enables fast payments for anyone running a business in Canada, no matter where the business is located. Although not the first mobile payment system in Canada, it’s one of the most popular based on its success in the U.S., as its backed by Twitter founder Jack Dorsey.

Square Canada
If you sign up for Square Canada, you’ll get a free Mobile Card Reader and the Square Register application available for free in the App Store. With these two and your iDevice in your pocket or purse you can start your business rolling and cash in, all you need to is use them when a customer wants to make a payment.

Each of the 75 million active Canadian credit cards can be used starting today. Payments are processed fast, which means the funds Square collects will be available the next business day, with you only paying a 2.75% fee per swipe. There are no other hidden fees.

According to the company’s press release Square took a huge step forwards when stepping in Canada. This market is the first one outside the US, where more than 2 million individuals and businesses are using this service, resulting in more than $8 billion in annualized payments for Square.

In addition to the free point-of-sale feature, the Square app comes with great features such as daily report monitoring, inventory tracking, and even provides tools to surprise your customers with customized rewards and loyalty programs. In other words, to help you and your business grow.

Apparently I had signed up with a US account a while back waiting for a Canadian release, and that’s why everything was different.

I had signed up with Customer Code and everything. I was functional. Suddenly my square stopped functioning and cannot use the Code which is the ONLY way to get a hold of Customer service by phone. Without it I have been scrambling and messaging them online and even facebooking them. It’s all been futile. I cannot have anyone contact me nor I contact them. No help whatsoever. You only lifeline is the Customer Code and it should not be that way. They do not provide a single phone numbers anywhere all over the internet. I have lost out on a few thousand $ because I was not able to charge customers. Customer service disappeared on me. I tried re-registering and it recognizes me and won’t allow me to open another account. How hard can it get??
