The Parliament Hill iPhone App: Prorogued At the Moment
Just yesterday the Official White House iPhone app was launched in the App Store. This innovative app provides news straight from the Obama Administration and also includes videos, photos, and live streaming of events involving President Barack Obama.
Will We Ever See an iPhone App from Ottawa?
Things works a bit differently here in Canada. Our Federal government could possibly come out with an official Canadian Parliament iPhone app, but that won’t be happening anytime soon. Why? That’s because our current Parliament has been prorogued by Stephen Harper.
Come on now, the 2010 Winter Olympics are starting soon here in Vancouver–so of course it would make sense to prorogue Parliament and give everyone a nice holiday to enjoy the games! 😉 It’s not like our tax dollars are hard at work or anything…err…oh wait…they are.
Anyways, the point I’m trying to make is even if Parliament was running at full throttle, I highly doubt that we’d see an iPhone app from Ottawa. Things work slowly here in Canada, when it comes to getting things done by all forms of government. The debate would probably end up in a referendum on whether or not a Parliament iPhone app should be created.
What do you think? Waste of time and money for governments to create iPhone apps, or an absolutely necessity to reach out to the internet generation?

Koodos to Obama for making a move towards his promise for more government openness. In Canada right now though the government is too busy trying to keep us from finding out what they're doing.
What a strange and ironic role reversal…here's to the future!
I doubt well ever see an app released. I dont really care though lol but then again, it would be interesting to read up sometimes and see whats happening… 😉
stay out of politics stick to the iphone discussion only…

Just having some tongue-in-cheek fun this Friday. Where's Rick Mercer
when you need him? 😉
But that's no fun…
Hmm, prorouging so MP's can actually get some work done instead of
sitting and arguing in Parliament, sounds good to me -especially in
light of all the great work being done for Haiti.
iPhone app from Parliament Hill? Possibly, but the news outlets
generally cover everything with somewhat objectivity (minus the CBC
which is an embarrasment). I'd rather hear my news from all the great
news sites and apps rather than having it SPUN to me from the
government itself!!!
