I'm disgusted with Robbers, and I plan to change my home internet provider out of principle. I hope more and more competition come into Canada and take away all of Robbers customers who have been basically crapped on because of their monopoly. Only then will Robbers realize their mistake, but by then, I won't be going back even if they allow unlimited download.
  • wow that is so expensive - I'm getting that sort of allowance per month for a fraction of that - I always thought we where getting ripped off here but holy crap rogers need an eyepatch and a parrot
  • Paige61
Has Rogers riped you off with their rocket promotion. Contact me. I just got a bill for $1,672.68. I paid more for my car!!

The $150 plan is more for freelancer photographers, writers, etc. It is a lot, but it they expect photographers to tether their laptops to their phones for the purpose of filing photos or video, they'll need a plan that can handle up to 30megs worth of data at one time.

Rogers doesn't listen to complaints very often, but they do listen to industry when they believe there's a market for them. This is something most people won't consider, but will bring in a small niche market that has nowhere else to go and can write off the expense or in the case of news photographers, writers and videographers, have their company cover the cost.

Please, o please give me tethering. I promise to be good and stay within my limits at peak times...

@poly your list makes sense from a consumer's point of view and I would personally like to see prices like that but a great number of people rarely go over 1gb, rogers gets that extra $15 out of everyone, there's no reason for them to offer anything lower...

I think the max Data overages of $100 bucks (minus Data plan cost) is only good for overages up to 10GBs. It says something about 10GBs in the small print on rogers.com....

But, $150/mth just for Data??? (I managed yo use 5.94 gigs once. I streamed 4-5 movies)....
  • Correct.
  • Gravey
I left my 3G on for a whole month to test my usage, and it only amounted to just over 2 gigs

    "all iPhones"
  • generalinq
    I barely use 150 megs a month.

for Rocket Stick, I think there is a cap for $100 on data. Which means you can be on their $30 plan and if you go over their limit, you will only be charged for $100 MAX. Why would anyone spend $150 for 15GB when you can get $100 for unlimited data.
  • Techbliss
I think Rogers is really out of its mind!!!! $150 \ month for internet usage!!! I won't even pay $30 for the 6 gb plan. There's something terribly wrong with the candian phone service providers. Try to rip off their customers all the effin time!! Geesh!!!!
  • Ali khan
I actually did end up using my entire data package last month it was 6.8 gb or something but 15 gigs is a lot I doubt anyone is using it that much
  • No one is looking at this right, this is not an $150/month plan, this is proof that the LTE network is up and running in time for the Olympics! Yay good job rogers, oh yea lets not forget the iPhone 4g.

3g would be pretty damn hard to use 15gb, when were talking LTE especially when apple releases the new laptop's with 4g chips built in, this will be a game changer and allow them to compete with shaw on the west coast for customers. 3g=14.4 Mbit/s theoretically and 4g=100Mbit/s woo hoo i can now use my $150/month plan!
  • JonnyP
Umm, how does this make any sense when you could get the $25/500MB plan and use as much data as you want and be charged $100 more? Or is there some 'fair' overage policy I don't know about.
  • This is crazy. I can't see anyone willing to pay $150/month plus taxes for Internet!
  • Mabs
I buy a monthly data plan 2 month ago for my wife: 30$ for 1 gig, max $100 data over charge :-). (The 6 gig for 30$ i already have on my Iphone was not available a this time)

So... Its 15 gig for 100$ if Rogers consider its not abusing :-)
  • djepsilon
Holy Jeebus! 15GB!? Even if Dave is right, the average movie is what, 200-300MB? Who is downloading 30 movies a month to their iphone!? (Let alone using the cell network) I could see it maybe being useful for tethering, but that's still a LOT of data. Besides, isn't that what Rogers rocket mobile internet stick is for? (what a ridiculous name)
I barely use 250MB a month with my 6GB plan... what I wanna know is, if 15GB = $150, then where is the 1GB for $10?!?!?!
  • poly
you have 6GB for $30, so do you expect $5 for 1gb data?

if pricing were to make sense, they should have some data plan at every $5 price point on the low end and then $10 price point on the higher end... something like this.
    250mb $5
    500mb $10
    1gb $15
    2gb $20
    6gb $30
    10gb $40
    15gb $50
  • X1Zero
This is why we call them "Robbers"
    :)
  • Mike
I use about 500MB of my 6GB data plan...
  • Dave
Probably being added so you can download iTunes movies & tv shows straight from your phone...just a thought.
  • Try as I might I rarely use more than 200 mb of my 6 gb plan per month.

    Simon
  • Kai
Yes they will allow tethering. It is not breaching any part of the contract with Rogers. On the other hand, AT&T specifically states that you cannot tether (to protect their unlimited data usage). I see no reason why Rogers should not allow their customers to use the data they paid for. This is also one of the primary reasons why Rogers is so against an unlimited plan.
  • Guest
Its nice to see the option of monthly or yearly contracts, but damn... That's a lot of cash to pay with a phone plan and yet other monthly bills. You gotta LOVE ur data. I can see it being helpful for internet sticks ;)
  • StewartK
But will Roger$ actually allow tethering?
  • Tak
Sounds like they are anticipating iPhone tethering and/or more video streaming. But, even with iPhone os 3.0 tethering, mms and Youtube, I barely use my 6gb monthly plan!
  • any tethering restrictions? hmm I wonder ...
