Mountain Lion Accounts for 32% of all Mac Web Traffic

Apple’s latest desktop operating system, OS X Mountain Lion, accounts for 32% of all Mac Web traffic measured by Net Applications. This is the first time Mountain Lion has surpassed the popular Lion OS, which now dropped to 28%, Techcrunch reports.

Just two months ago, Mountain Lion accounted for 29% of all Mac Web traffic, while Lion retained 30%. Snow Leopard has also maintained a steady position for the past two months, which, looking at the Lion usage numbers, suggests that Mountain Lion users have upgraded their system from Lion, as Mountain Lion requires Lion to have already been installed in order to upgrade.

The growth of Apple’s latest desktop operating system is impressive, as it shows that Mac users are attracted by Mountain Lion more than they were by Lion. As previous charts show, it took Lion ten long months to overcome Snow Leopard in terms of Web traffic, while Mountain Lion has become the dominant operating system in just five months.
