Apple Quietly Price Drops 512GB, 1TB SSD Mac Upgrades by Up to $240 CAD

Many have complained about the prices of the new MacBook Pro line up, while we also saw the 12-inch MacBook jump in Canada by $100.

But it’s not all bad news when it comes to the Mac, as one eagle-eyed MacRumors reader has noticed 512GB and 1TB SSD upgrades have dropped in price in the U.S. for the existing line up, and they also have in Canada.

Here are the new CAD prices for SSD upgrades:

  • MacBook Air: $240 for 512GB (was $360)
  • Retina iMac: $480 for 512GB (was $600)
  • Mac Pro: $240 for 512GB; $720 for 1TB (was $360/512GB; $960/1TB)
  • Mac mini: $240 for 512GB; $720 for 1TB (was $360/512GB; $960/1TB)

As you can see, price drops ranged from $120 all the way up to $240. Unfortunately, we did not see hardware refreshes for the MacBook Air, iMac, Mac Pro and Mac mini.

But based on Apple VP Phil Schiller’s interview today with the Independent, he said “We love the Mac and are as committed to it, in both desktops and notebooks, as we ever have been.” So this may be a good sign for those still waiting for upgrades.

As for the existing line up of MacBook Pros, according to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo from KGI Securities, next year’s models could see a price cut and 32GB RAM option.
