Four New Lightning Cables To Hit Apple Store Today

While we are waiting for the iPad mini introduction, the Apple store has gone down, as usual ahead of every Apple event. But the smaller 7.85-inch iPad, 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro and iMac isn’t the only reason: 9to5mac heard that four new Lightning cables will hit the Apple Store today.

As their sources point out, Apple will introduce a new 60W MacSafe 2 power adapter and a 12W USB power adapter during the iPad mini event, as well as four new Lightning cables: Lightning to USB camera adapter, Lightning to SD card, Lightning to VGA and Lightning Digital AV.

An interesting thing to note here was highlighted by 9to5Mac’s Seth Weinraub: “Apple has broken out the Lightning USB adapter from the SD card kit and are charging $29 for each.”

One of the first things that pops up when looking at the list: the new USB power adapter for the iPad has increased in wattage from 10W to 12W. This 2W rise could solve the iPad charging issue: as you may have already experienced, the new iPad takes a lifetime to charge, so a bump in wattage could speed up the charging process.

The 60W MagSafe 2 power adapter is available certainly for the rumored 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro.
