Foursquare Launches Official iPad App With Travel Recommendations And More

Foursquare has released an update to their iOS app today, which officially adds support for Apple’s iPad.

The big-screen version of the app is built to help you find restaurants and other points of interest that are nearby. The iPad version of Foursquare also includes a new feature that suggests travel recommendations based on your location and interests.

“Next time you’re trying to figure out what to do for your next trip or even just next weekend, fire up Foursquare. It’s focused on helping you plan smarter. Choose your city, and you’ll get a personalized list of all the great places there. And, with one-tap, you can easily save anything you like to your dream itinerary.”

Upon first launch, the app will display points of interest that are nearby along with a couple of potential travel destinations. In order to see more travel recommendations tap “Get More Travel Ideas.” If you don’t see the travel destination you are interested in, you can scroll to the bottom of the page and search for a city of your choice.

The updated version of the app makes use of the iPad’s larger display, presenting content in a way that is easy to view and navigate through. The content is displayed in a photo-heavy, magazine-type layout bringing the most relevant content front and center.
