Google is Working on Making Chrome More Power Efficient on OS X

According to a new report from ZDNet, Google is actively working to better optimize Chrome on OS X in order to make its browser more battery efficient on Macs.

If you’ve ever used Chrome on any MacBook, you will know that you’d better be connected to power or else your battery will deplete very quickly.

Safari has always been the best browser on OS X when it comes to power efficiency because Apple is able to leverage the hardware. Third-party developers, like Google in this case, don’t have the same resources as Apple may have to optimize their software.

A Google Chrome Developer has linked to four recent code tweaks on Google Plus, which makes Chrome more comparable to Safari when it comes to power usage.

Google Chrome may never be as power efficient as Safari, however, users can be assured that Google is working to fix the issues.

Google, I waited and waited and now you are too late. I wanted to stay loyal to chrome, but happy I got on board with Firefox. Much more reliable and battery friendly.

Safari is best to use on OSX hands down. Don’t even waste time trying Chrome or FF.
