How Many Netflix Users are in Canada? Number Pegged at 4.3 Million

While Netflix keeps their Canadian user numbers private, one research firm believes the number stands at approximately 4.3 million, as of the end of 2015.

Research firm SNL Kagan tells BNN the 4.3 million subscriber base in Canada is a 20 percent jump compared to the estimated 3.6 million Canadian users as of the end of 2014. If these 4.3 million users were paying the standard Netflix rate of $9.99 per month, that would mean over $515 million in revenue alone from Canada.

When asked about subscriber numbers, Bell Media spokesperson Scott Henderson told BNN “We’ve seen significant [CraveTV subscriber] growth since our OTT launch and are currently pacing above target.” Bell Media owns BNN.

Last month, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings told Wired Canadians “harbour constant insecurities” over their Netflix library, despite exclusives such as the upcoming stream of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Netflix released their 2016 Q1 numbers today, adding 6.74 million users (2.23M in the US; 4.51M from overseas) in the quarter, bringing their, global total to 81.5 million subscribers in 190 countries.
