Rejoice hockey fans as Tim Hortons is stepping up their game this year, by bringing back the Collector’s Series NHL Trading Cards in a fun, interactive way. Starting today, users can download a new app that brings the players to life through augmented reality, making these cards the first NHL Trading Cards of their kind (via CNW).
The free Tim Hortons Augmented Reality Hockey Cards app, available for iOS and Android platforms, lets you scan their cards to see authentic models of NHL stars in their real life environment. The app recognizes all 100 cards in the base set, and lets you discover hidden animations when you scan different card combinations side by side.
Trading Cards are available in a three-card pack at restaurants while supplies last for $1 plus tax, with each beverage purchased ($1.99 plus tax, without beverage purchase).
“Tim Hortons has a long standing history of supporting hockey in Canada and we’re thrilled to continue this tradition through the return of our NHL® trading cards,” said Sami Siddiqui, President, Tim Hortons Canada. “We’re excited to offer a new and engaging experience this year with this app, bringing the players of Canada’s favourite game to life.”
“The set Upper Deck developed for Tim Hortons offers a variety of compelling cards fans of all ages will enjoy collecting and an incredible new experience with the augmented reality piece Tim Hortons developed,” said Jason Masherah, President of Upper Deck. “The partnership last year had hockey fans flocking to Tim Hortons to get their packs and we are excited to team up once again with this new set of NHL® Trading Cards.”
Once again this year trading will extend online, as each physical pack of trading cards contains a unique PIN that unlocks a digital trading card. When fans register at www.collecttowin.ca, they can collect and trade digital trading cards with fans across the country.
