NAVIGON MobileNavigator North America 50% Off Sale

One of the best turn by turn GPS apps for the iPhone is celebrating their birthday and over 1 million users with a 50% off sale. NAVIGON’s MobileNavigator North America is regularly priced at $79.99, but right now it’s 50% off at $39.99 for a short time.

I’ve seen this app in action on a friend’s iPhone and it’s one of the best out there. This is a great deal. If you’ve been waiting to buy, this could be the perfect time. My favourite feature about NAVIGON is the accuracy of the GPS compared to other turn by turn apps such as TomTom and Co-Pilot Live. Also, to access your contacts and the built in iPod feature makes it perfect for road trips.

Here’s the app description:

☺ Happy birthday MobileNavigator for iPhone and a big “Thank You” to more than one million users! – Celebrate with us and get the app now for a very short time at a really special price! ☺

Features and range of functions:
– Simple, intuitive user interface

So here is a question: will the TomTom car mount work with the Navigon MobileNavigator?

I have Navigon Paid $80 last year. It is wonderful. Not perfect, but no gps unit is. Go get it. It got me throught the streets of southern California cities without any help from maps.

Hah, 2-3 posts a day is too much?? Guessing you don't sub to kotaku or gizmodo. Hell, digg is more like 100 a day. 😉

Well, I'm trying to cut down on my information overload. I honestly spend hours a day on the internet just to stay in the know, and I'm trying to cut down.

I get the highlights from Kotaku/Giz, and browse Reddit rather than Digg.

Try emailing iTunes support, separate from NAVIGON. It should work.

I bought this app last year and I love it. The only thing now is ever since I upgraded to iOS4 (I have the iPhone 3GS) when I run the Navigon app, my iPhone heats up and it looses it's charge. Anyone else experiencing this? Could this an app issue or an iOS4 issue?

Gosh, I was minutes away from a free iPhone 4.

Not to worry, I have plenty of emails offering me free iPhones as long as I visit their websites. How hard can it be? =o

For anyone who has it already, does it require data feed for it to work and navigate. e.g. I'm out of any Edge or 3G network.

With new update on the map on a yearly basis, does it cost us more for map update or this is a one time cost and we get free map update for life. Thanks.

Gary

No data required. Maps are stored on your phone.

I have a 3G with Navigon and its good. It beats the default map sw that is on the iPhone. Its a little slow on the 3G, and monitoring the amount of RAM left when running it, it gets down to as low as 8MB free RAM 😮

Nothing beats my Garmin C330 though lol

Using the tomtom app on 3.0.1 or 4.0.1 I experienced the samething. Using it during the day in the car with the brightness cranked it loses about 10% battery per hour (also using ipod function through my deck), all while being plugged in. During the evening/night it'll gain slowly. It gets hot whenever you use it heavily, just like any electronics. It sounds fairly normal, although stupid that it happens.

Yeah I forgot to mention that I’m losing my charge while the phone is plugged in. This was not a problem when I was running Navigon on OS 3. I agree it’s stupid when it happens but I don’t agree that it is normal cos when you pay for something to work, it should work as expected, in my opinion. Sounds like an iOS issue if your tomtom app experiences the same problem. I wonder if this no charging/overheating issue is also experienced on the iPhone 4?

Do the traffic updates work in canada?

Mweinkauf

Well, I went ahead and bought it, and I also bought the traffic update addon… and it says offline… constantly live traffic server is offline. Anyone else in Canada get this? It’s supposed to work in Canada I thought. I sent an email to navigon, but I’ve heard their customer service is crap, so we’ll see. But I’d like to know if anyone else is having this issue…

I just bought the app and connected my iphone 4 in my car and i wasn’t loosing battery life. my phone was actually out of juice like 8% as soon as plugged it in it started charging and navigating in same time. so i’m not sure why it loses battery charge on your iphone 3gs while plugged in. i know the iphone 4 has 20% bigger battery but i’m not sure if that is the case. i have to say the app looks really nice on the retina display. i absolutely love the iphone 4 screen quality its gorgeous. most apps are now changing to high red you can really see a big difference.

I just got an email from iTunes Support and they are refunding the purchase price to my credit card. The email did not say if I had to buy the app again at 39.99 to keep using it. I asked in a response email but, I don’t want to wait another 3 days to hear back and have the sale be over.

Has anyone had this happen before? Will the app be removed from my iTunes account?

I bought this app as well, and I’d be interested to know if the traffic updates will in fact work in Canada. @Mweinkauf give us an update if the traffic server starts working.

Based on everyones comments that this is a good app, I checked it on on itunes. the reviews there aren’t that great. Also, the price is showing as $59.99.
