Bell iPhones in Whitehorse Show Edmonton As Their Location

The new Bell 3G HSPA+ network is brand spankin’ new. It’s so new that it seems there are some bugs to fix. Oh, say how about telling you that your location is located 2000 kilometres away from your actual location? No

Yep, it’s true. Bell Whitehorse iPhone users are experiencing some big time issues. There seems to be a wormhole that says Whitehorse users are located in EDMONTON! Now that doesn’t seem right, does it? On top of that, the location error also displays the incorrect time and date. Whitehorse is in Pacific Standard Time, whereas Edmonton is in Mountain Time. Talk about a headache! How to fix this?

We were contacted by Andrew Robulack with this story and he has created a nice workaround for those suffering issues with the Bell network.

How to Fix the Bell Whitehorse Wormhole

Turn Off Network Services: Settings–General–Locations Services–touch the slider to OFF
Manually Set the Time Zone: Settings–General–Date & Time–touch Set Automatically to OFF–type in Vancouver to get PST
Manually Set Calendar Time Zone Support: Settings–General–Mail, Contacts, Calendars–Time Zone Support to ON–then type in Vancouver to get PST

It’s really too bad for Whitehorse users that this is happening. They’ve lost their Location Services, which is one of the most important features on the iPhone. Visitors to Whitehorse will also be thoroughly confused when their phones show they are in Edmonton, along with the incorrect time!
