One of the amazing security features of the iOS platform is the Find My iPhone (or iPod, iPad) functionality. If you lose your iOS device, Find My iPhone enables users to locate the device on a map when the device connects to the Internet. From here, users can send a message/sound to the device, lock it remotely, or delete the device completely.
Find My iPhone is definitely one of those ‘better to have it and not need it’ functions and has helped many users over the years to locate their lost or stolen iOS devices.
With the debut of Apple’s new operating system, Mac OS X Lion, it seems that Apple has finally integrated Find My Mac into the OS! When I was first introduced to Find My iPhone, I immediately wanted to have the functionality on my Mac but couldn’t do so. With Lion, I now have that feature, as will millions of Mac owners in July!
As summarized by 9to5Mac, set up is very straightforward and is as simple as setting up the security feature on your iOS device. However, Find My Mac features a new function that enables “Guest” users to use Safari and only Safari on the Mac. This is how the Mac figures out where it is by using the IP address and let’s the owner connect to the machine.
Once connected to the Mac, the similar commands of sending a message/sound, remote lock or remote wipe are available.

And there goes all Undercover’s business.. It really is a shame that both for the mac and iphone, jailbroken and non-jailbroken, Apple take a lot of ideas already being used by developers and integrates it in to their own system, losing all the hard work put in by those developers and making their products useless.  It would be great if they would at least pay them a little something when they do it.Â
