I gave up playing this game after a couple of times. I don’t understand the popularity and neither does most people I talk to. Probably just hype.

It took me a while to ‘get into the game’, but once I did I was hooked. However, I haven’t played it since.

I’m an addict… of the franchise. I haven’t played it in a few weeks, but I did buy one of the plush toys yesterday for $16–yes, 16x what I paid for the actual game! I could’ve gone whole hog (pun intended) and got the jumbo one for $50.

To a point, it’s a self-sustaining feedback loop–it’s popular because others think it’s popular, it’s been sitting at #1 almost forever, newcomers see this and download it… rinse and repeat.

This reinforces the perception that it’s a “fad” but like the iPhone, iPod and Mac “fad”, this cycle can’t go on as long as it has *and remain popular* without having some substance and appeal (addiction) to it for a large percentage of players. Rovio apparently pull in $1 million a MONTH on ad revenue just from their Android version, which is free.

It won’t last forever at this level, but the way it’s going, Angry Birds will be a “fad” the same way Pac Man was.

I’m sure everyone can relate to this infographic as almost
everybody have already played this game even once in their life. And yes,
unfortunately there is no cure for this addiction. Unless you are brave enough
to delete this game from your device.
