Apple Confirms iOS 5 Suffers From Battery Life Bugs, Fix Coming in ‘A Few Weeks’

Apple has confirmed to multiple sites iOS 5 suffers from battery life issues, and that a fix will be coming in the next few weeks. Just moments ago, Apple released iOS 5.0.1 beta to developers to fix battery issues and more.
In a statement to The Loop:
“A small number of customers have reported lower than expected battery life on iOS 5 devices,” an Apple spokesperson told The Loop. “We have found a few bugs that are affecting battery life and we will release a software update to address those in a few weeks.”
A similar statement was sent to AllThingsD. We’ll keep you updated as to whether we hear tips about iOS 5.0.1 beta improving battery life. Suspects that have drained battery life worse than normal include extensive use of Location services in iOS 5, such as the Reminders app, Find my Friends, and Siri’s ‘Raise to Speak’ feature.
How’s your iPhone 4S battery life? Or iOS 5 battery life in general?

No issues with my iPhone 4.
we’re talking about the iphone 4s u idiot
LOL! Some people need to learn how to read.
To be fair. The last sentence clearly states ios5 battery life in general. Seeing that the 4S comes with ios5 pre installed, it definitely lends itself to the interpretation that the authour is asking about all devices running ios5….I won’t add comments about learning to read, because the issue here is comprehension.
HAHA beauty reply to these morons that think they are smart.
No, actually, we’re talking about “iOS5 devices,” u r-tard. Go ahead and read the article again. My 3GS actually has had decreased battery life since installing iOS5. The above article confirms the cause of what I’ve noticed.
“A small number of customers have reported lower than expected battery life on iOS 5 devices,”
No I think you should read clearly before you comment. It doesn’t say that it relates specifically to the 4S. They just mention that at the end of the article because it seems more common but it’s not ultimately ONLY the 4s.

I have an iPhone 4. My iOS5 device seems to be working just fine. I am answering the second part of the question. I don’t know about you, but clearly the rest of us are talking about all iOS 5 devices.
Het Adssda, don’t be a prick.
4S is doing fine, maybe slightly less or equal battery life as my 4, wouldn’t trade my 4s for anything though 😉
Ya, I agree! No, wait. I am still waiting for my iPhone 4s from Rogers.
Im in the same boat, slightly less or equal battery life as my 4
My 4S gets amazing battery life. I had multitasking disabled on my 4, and the 4s still has better battery life. I have the time zone awareness shut off as well as raise to speak. Even prior to that though, my battery life was superb. 🙂
Battery performs amazing ! Sometimes even up to 30 hours. I use it mostly to talk, so I guess it helps
Mine is the same as on my 3GS and I have disabled iAds, time zone check and diagnostics
When I am in Canada (with Rogers) and have locations services/cell data on, battery drains as bad as with my iPhone 3 (never replaced battery).
Overnight I can lose 8 percent not doing anything.
I have been in fl for the past 2 weeks with no cell data or location services, just using wifi and camera video recording and I have only needed to recharge once since.
I turn off everything, wifi, location, etc. and the battery drain is 15% overnight of not doing anything!!!!!!
Actually I know of a few people that own iPhone 3GS and 4 and are suffering. After upgrading to iOS 5, my battery life did improve by great margin.
hey guys, just turn the ‘Settings time zone’ off in location services and all will be good. well, at least in my case 🙂
anyone else noticed an incredible increase in data usage? Last week, I used 65MB and EVERYTHING was turned off except email. I was also on WiFi from 9 to 5 every day.
Omfg that happened to you too! I lost all my data from 28 oct till yesterday. I couldn’t even iMessage on the road only in WiFi. I thought it was because of Bell (or the fact that I did a fresh install iOS 5 and downloaded lots of apps over 3G) but if you had it too maybe it wasn’t coincidence!
Great, just great. Looks like DevTeam is going to hold off on the untethered Jailbreak if 5.01 is just around the corner.
No battery issue here on my 4s. I wish they would fix the lack of mobileMe-icloud push on converted accounts…..
My iPhone 4 on iOS 5 is draining battery like crazy, especially running iCloud.
No battery issues (yet) with my iPhone 4 (running iOS5).
