Bell And Virgin Mobile Announce Two New Smartphone Plans ($50 & $65)

Some new plans were just announced by both Bell and Virgin Mobile earlier this weekend. With smartphones rising in popularity, the demand for new smartphone plans are at an all-time high. So Bell and Virgin Mobile have announced both a $50 and $65 smartphone plan. Could this be just a coincidence that Bell announced their Q2 earnings just days prior?

Now, here are the newly announced plans:

$50 Smartphone Plan

  • 200 anytime minutes
  • Unlimited evening and weekends starting at 6PM
  • Unlimited Canada-wide calling to 10 buddies
  • Unlimited Canada, U.S., International text and picture messaging
  • Voicemail and Caller ID
  • 100MB data, or Unlimited BlackBerry social

$65 Smartphone Plan

  • 200 anytime minutes
  • Unlimited evening and weekends starting at 6PM
  • Unlimited Canada-wide calling to 10 buddies
  • Unlimited Canada, U.S., International text and picture messaging
  • Voicemail and Caller ID
  • 10 hours Mobile TV (Bell only)
  • 1GB data

These plans are available right now to our knowledge. All current and new postpaid customers can grab this plan today if they so choose.

The comments regarding the new plans are very well mixed. Many have expressed anger towards the carriers, for example, Ron Mexico said, “worst plans they’ve released in a while, $50 with 200mb, really?” In reality though, these prices are typical throughout Bell, Telus, and Rogers.

What are you paying for your current mobile plan?

Horrible plans. I have a fido plan that has 300 minutes, all the same extras and 6GB of data.

Almost forgot about Fido’s deal. That deal is great for data users. Lots of talk among many carriers about 6 GB plans lately.

Funny that they offer Unlimited Blackberry social (probably due to the fact it’s a dying platform) not to mention how many kids/teens want a Blackberry these days lol? More crap for your buck! Boy do I hope the new iPhone has AWS in it……then I’ll say piss off to Fido and jump on WIND. (and yes I know there will be coverage issues but I’ll be saving $40.00 a month) P.S. I don’t use my phone for alot anyways…..I’m probably on it gaming more than anything else. I just really have it for emergencies.

An AWS-supported iPhone would be incredible. But I don’t know if it’s going to come this time around. If it does though…further disruption around the world.

As a whole, many of the plans aren’t too great. People are better off waiting for those $60 6 GB data promos (or switching carriers). If you’ve ever seen US carrier packages, you would be awed by the deals.

iPhone is unlocked, so when i do go to the states every once in a while longer then a week, I try some of the pay as you go. tMobile has 3 bucks a day for unlimited everything. (200mg a day for data is what they call unlimited) but still its a day. At&T has similar. Hell Virgin has great deals there. Without competition we are going to continue to pay some of the highest rates in the world.

People can always go with plans from stores like Smart Cell in Ottawa. For 57$ you get 350m day time. 1000 in coming . Unlimited after 6pm and weekends. Call display and voicemail. And the best part is 6Gb of LTE data. Still expencive in my opinion but a lest you get tu use the phone on the net like it was meant to be.

That’s actually a good deal. I have always went with the big named carriers, might be time to try out a smaller one.

What a great deal! Lmao…Or with fido get all the bells an whistles with 6 gig data and unlimited talk any text for 75 bucks. Similar to what I used to get in the states.

For. $35 you can get a fab 10 plan similar, only minus the data, add my previous purchase of 6GB for $30 when the iPhone 4 was released and I have a killer $65 plan. Exactly like the $65 plan show above except substitute 1GB with 6GB.
