The iPhone Is Worth More Than All Microsoft Products Combined

After topping out Microsoft’s market capitalization record earlier today, Apple is back once again beating up on the Redmond, Washington, software giant. This time around, iPhone sale statistics provided proof that the iPhone is a better selling product than all Microsoft products.

Vanity Fair notes: (via Forbes)

One Apple product, something that didn’t exist five years ago, has higher sales than everything Microsoft has to offer. More than Windows, Office, Xbox, Bing, Windows Phone, and every other product that Microsoft has created since 1975. In the quarter ended March 31, 2012, iPhone had sales of $22.7 billion; Microsoft Corporation, $17.4 billion.

Apple sure can complete the impossible. To sell 5.3 billion worth of additional iPhones in comparison to the whole Microsoft lineup is astonishing. I guess that’s what happens when you buy an iPhone; people usually never switch back.

But one point Forbes brought up relates to the word “worth.” What does Apple mean by this word. Does it relate to stock value or profits? It’s a detail we are yet to discover, the math is hands-down complicated. To figure profits we would need details on each handset model sold, exact profits per device, and more.

Did this detail come as a surprise to you? I sure was surprised when I learned the iPhone was a better seller than all of Microsoft’s products.

As the old adage states……”build it and they will come.”

By this logic, oil sold from Exxon Mobil is worth more than an iPhone. There are limitless possibilities to the comparisons you can make, it doesn’t mean much. All this shows is that the iPhone is fiscally responsible for more revenue than all other Microsoft offerings.

You took it out of context. Oil is not a technological product now is it?
