Video Demonstrates The Effect Of A 4-Inch iPhone Screen

We have a whole lump of proof that nearly proves the New iPhone will feature a 4-inch display with a 1136 x 640 resolution. A report earlier this month from 9To5Mac found that iOS 6 indeed supports a 1136 x 640 display, while iOS 5 has no-such support. Many past screenshots have shown what applications may look like on the larger display, but we have never seen video.

This morning MacRumors has uploaded a quality video demonstrating applications on a larger 4-inch display. Some notable changes include more home screen icons, larger app folders, widescreen games, older games letterboxed, and more.

The most interesting part of the video is the letterboxed feature. We’ve heard this term many times previously, and basically this will add a border to each side of the application to retain the same aspect ratio of older model iPhones. This function will be activated until the developer releases an updated version of his or her application.

Apple’s anticipated 1136 x 640 resolution is also nearly the same of a 16:9 aspect ratio. Those who like to watch movies on their iOS devices will find that the iPhone closely matches the native aspect ratio of movies (resulting in better quality).

Apple’s keynote presentation is set for September 12th according to reports. Being just 12 days away from the rumored event, I feel time is slowly drifting by.
