Apple’s Music Social Network Ping to Terminate on Sept. 30th
Back in June AllThingsD noted Apple’s failed music social network Ping would be eliminated in the next iTunes release, and looks like that has come true. If you load up iTunes on your Mac/PC and go to Ping, you’ll be greeted with the following message:
Ping will no longer be available as of September 30th.
Thank you for your interest in Ping. We are no longer accepting new members.
Released in September 2010, Ping registered over 1 million users in 48 hours, but turned out to be a dud. Apple CEO Tim Cook noted it was a failure according to customer feedback. Are you sad Ping is dead?

Too narrow focus and wasn’t able to get buy-ins from the larger social networks to spread itself. But that’s the nature of business ideas: some take off and some don’t.
Not a moment too soon! This is a prime example that Apple isn’t perfect.
Yep.
