Purported Phil Schiller Email Confirms No iPhone 5 Dock Anytime Soon

Have you been wondering why there hasn’t been a dock released for the iPhone 5? Well an apparent email reply by Phil Schiller, Apple’s Senior VP of Marketing, to a customer notes the details, reports 9to5Mac.

Here’s Phil’s response:

We do not plan on making a dock for the iPhone 5. Most people who use docks use them with speaker or clock systems.

The iPhone dock has by far been one of the most underrated accessories–Apple has sold one for each generation of the iPhone until now. The original 2007 iPhone dock also works for the iPhone 4/4S.

Apple, I still want a dock for my iPhone 5. Please make one! Do you want an iPhone 5 dock?

Of course I do. My phone sits in a dock most of the day at work to make sure it is charged when I need it. As for speaker and clock docks – you just made them all incompatible!

I was wondering where the dock was. This is disappointing, I always had a dock on my night stand.

Plenty of third party solutions will fill the gap, no doubt.

the last one, wouldn’t let you have a case on your phone, If they do make one make it a bit bigger.

So fake! I find it hard to believe Schiller goes into his settings to specifically put “iPhone 5” in the signature.

As the person who received the email and a loyal Canadian who visits this site 10 times a day, I take offence. Although I understand why you would think so. I laughed aloud when I received the email and saw the signature. I suppose Phil is known to have a good sense of humour.

I’ve had a dock since I first got the iPhone 3G, it’s how I’ve always charged my phone. Sits right next to my desktop. Goes into the dock when I come home, lift it out when I leave, easy in sight when notifications pop, etc. If I didn’t already have my 5 ordered this could’ve been an actual dealbreaker for me.
