Apple Starts Sending $15 ‘Antennagate’ Settlement Checks To iPhone 4 Owners

Check iphone 4 settlement

Last year in February, Apple offered a $15 payout to iPhone 4 owners who had not previously received a free bumper to solve antenna or reception issues with their handsets. It seems that Apple has now started sending these iPhone 4 ‘Antennagate’ settlement checks and many people have already received their payouts, according to 9to5Mac. The first checks were issued on April 17 2013 and are valid till July 16th.

Here’s what the settlement said:

Apple was “misrepresenting and concealing material information in the marketing, advertising, sale, and servicing of its iPhone 4–particularly as it relates to the quality of the mobile phone antenna and reception and related software.”

And here’s how Apple responded back then:

“This settlement relates to a small number of customers who indicated that they experienced antenna or reception issues with their iPhone 4, and didn’t want to take advantage of a free case from Apple when it was being offered in 2010.”

In Canada however, the ‘Antennagate’ was a mixed bag, with a majority of users not suffering major reception issues like those on AT&T in the U.S.
