New Apple TV Hardware Rumoured to Debut Next Month

MG Siegler announced on Twitter this afternoon a bold claim, that Apple was set to launch new Apple TV hardware next month:

Mark Gurman from 9to5Mac also commented to say his sources tell him to hold off on buying an Apple TV, a hint a product refresh is looming:

We have independently heard that a new version of the Apple TV is in development, but our sources have not provided a clear picture in terms of a launch timeframe.

Earlier this morning it was reported new Apple TV software is set to launch on September 18, the public release date of iOS 7.

One week ago, it was reported Apple shipments of “set-top boxes” had made their way to the USA via China; many alluded to a possible refresh coming at Apple’s iPhone event, which didn’t happen. The existing third generation Apple TV was released last March, so it has been 18 months since a hardware refresh.

Don’t tell me that this new version will be the only one to support apps or something like that.
