Apple has updated its iMac line with Intel’s Haswell processors, next generation Wi-Fi, and faster PCIe flash storage options.

“iMac continues to be the example that proves how beautiful, fast and fun a desktop computer can be,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “Inside its ultra-thin aluminum enclosure, the new iMac has the latest Intel processors, faster graphics, next generation 802.11ac Wi-Fi and faster PCIe flash storage.”

As a result:

  • the entry-level 21.5-inch iMac comes with a 2.7GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor, and the new Iris Pro graphics and will cost $1,349
  • the high-end 2.9 GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 features 1 GB of video memory, and will cost $1,549
  • the entry level 27-inch model features a 3.2GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor, and 1 GB of video memory for $1,849
  • the high-end 27-inch model comes with a 3.4GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor, and 2GB of video memory for $2,049.

The all-in-one devices now feature support for PCIe-based flash storage, which makes Fusion Drive and all-flash storage options up to 50% faster than the previous generation, according to Apple.
