Nike Unveils Its New Nike+ Fuelband SE With Bluetooth 4.0 [PICS]

Nike has just announced its slightly redesigned and more colourful Nike+ Fuelband SE at an athlete-filled event in New York City. According to The Verge, the new Fuelband comes in yellow, pink, or red accenting an otherwise black body and supports Bluetooth 4.0, allowing users to track invididual sessions and see the points earned in real time.

While the refreshed Fuelband SE looks nearly identical to its predecessor, Nike has apparently made some significant changes to how your Fuel is tracked. The new Nike+ Fuelband can identify actual movement better, rather than counting things like ambiguous wrist flicks. Users will also get better flexibility and weather sealing, hourly reminders to move, Bluetooth 4.0 and a double-tap function for the home button that’ll bring up the time. Nike has also tweaked the FuelBand iOS app a bit, enabling users to get the most movement out of their day.

The new FuelBand SE is part of a larger Nike+ ecosystem, which also includes the new Nike+ Moves app that was announced alongside the iPhone 5S. The app takes advantage of the iPhone’s new M7 chip, which is able to track activity without quickly draining the battery. Nike spent a long time talking about the Fuel metric, and all the new ways to measure and track how you’re doing.

The FuelBand SE will be available November 6th and will cost $149, with support for only iOS and the Nike+ website. No Android or Windows Phone 8 support has been announced.
