The Mobile Giving Foundation Canada (MGFC) announced today New Brunswickers and Canadians coast-to-coast have raised well over $92,000 through text donations via their cellphones to help support families of fallen RCMP Officers from last week’s Moncton tragedy.

MGFC, the Rotary Club of Moncton and the RCMP Foundation have all worked together for the text-to-donate program, which is still in place until the end of July.

Canadians can donate from their cellphones by texting the keyword MONCTON to short code 45678 to make a $20 donation, which will show up on their wireless bill. All donated funds go directly to the Moncton Fallen RCMP Members Fund.

“Canadians have shown once again how eager they are to support each other during a time of crisis in our communities,” said Bernard Lord, President of the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association (CWTA) and Chair of MGFC. “Our thoughts remain with the impacted families as they begin their difficult journey ahead.”

People have donated hard earned money and worked hard to raise donations for the poor families of the fallen RCMP officers…meanwhile two articles before on this site apparently Lebron James pockets $30 million off the beats deal…

What are you trying to say? Yes, the LeBron windfall is ridiculous.

Sorry, Didn’t come across properly. I just think it’s crazy people like the RCMP, etc are making peanuts compared to someone making a deal like that. They risk their lives everyday. The donated money through text is fantastic though.

Thousands of Canadians in the Armed Forces also risk their lives and die for this country, and they make much less than the RCMP.
