Telus has announced wireless service will be soon available on Highway 1 between Sicamous and Malakwa in B.C., part of an ongoing agreement the carrier signed with the province back in 2011 to connect over 1,700 kilometres of unconnected highways with service. The investment is pegged at $600,000:
“This stretch of Highway 1 is very well-travelled during the summer months, and we are happy to bring more coverage to the area during this busy travel season,” said Bert Braybrook, TELUS general manager, Kamloops/Cariboo region. “I’d like to thank our local TELUS team members who worked to get this site in place, which will provide local residents and travellers improved wireless reception whether they’re simply staying in touch while on the road or dialing 911 in the case of an emergency.”
Earlier this week, Telus announced it would also be expanding wireless coverage to a six kilometre stretch of Highway 97 between Monte Lake and Monte Creek in Kamloops.
