PC Financial 2.0 for iPhone Adds Mobile Cheque Deposits via your Camera

President’s Choice Financial has updated their mobile banking app to version 2.0, which adds mobile cheque deposits, allowing iPhone users to make deposits by taking images of the front and back of their cheques.

What’s New in Version 2.0
Mobile cheque deposit
Deposit your Canadian dollar cheques by using your mobile device. Just take a picture of both sides of your endorsed cheque, enter the dollar amount, select the account you would like to make your deposit to, and submit it.

Since PC Financial personal banking services are provided by the direct banking division of CIBC, it was inevitable the iPhone app would gain photo chequing, since the latter was the first big bank in Canada to debut the feature almost a year ago, with customers depositing over one million cheques as of this summer.

This app finally debuted years after other banks released their apps. When it was released, the iPhone 5 had been out for months and the app didn’t support the longer screen size for quite some time. Considering the length of time it took them to add Mobile Cheque support, they’re not in a hurry to keep the app up to date. At least it’s not as bad as their PC Plus app which is slow and really clunky! The bank is free so really, no complaints!
