Apple to Launch iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus Sales in Pakistan on Dec. 11 [u]

Apple is set to officially launch iPhone sales in Pakistan for the first time ever. The Cupertino company has strict requirements when it comes to carriers selling their iPhone, as a fast 4G/LTE network is required to run the latest phones.

Pakistani carriers have been quickly building out their networks, as in September, local carrier ZONG China Mobile was the first to launch its LTE network, while this month WaridTel similarly did the same.

As for the first two carriers to sell the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, that goes to Telenor and Ufone, which earlier this spring launched their 3G networks, with LTE networks most likely to come soon.

These carrier sites have started to advertise iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus pre-orders from their respective websites (via ProPakistani.pk):

Previously, the only way to acquire an iPhone in the country was through grey market channels, where markups would range around 20% higher than the original cost, but that looks to be a thing of the past.

The first launch of the iPhone in a country is something Canadians can relate to, as original iPhone owners had to buy their devices from the USA and bring them back to Canada to jailbreak and then activate for use. We finally were part of an official launch when the iPhone 3G debuted.

This official launch has citizens in the country excited as moving forward, they most likely will be included in Apple’s international iPhone launches as well.

Update Nov. 28: Pakistan’s largest wireless carrier, Mobilink, has announced it will also be carrying the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus (they have a 3G network):
