Netflix has released their November ISP speed index which again includes performance of Canadian internet providers. No major changes occurred other than Videotron jumping up a couple spots. The average speed for the top 10 ISP services are pretty similar for the most part.
Here’s how Netflix describes their speed index:
The Netflix ISP Speed Index is a measure of prime time Netflix performance on a particular ISP and not a measure of overall performance for other services/data that may travel across the specific ISP network. Faster Netflix performance generally means better picture quality, quicker start times and fewer interruptions.
Netflix notes year-over-year performance compared since November 2013 has seen increases for averages speeds in the U.S. and European regions.
As for Canada, Netflix only started releasing ISP speed data since March of this year, so it’ll be interesting to see what they observe once a year’s worth of data is available.

I’m interest to see what the December list will look like. Bell Aliant FibreOp gave everyone a speed increase as part of their “FibreOp 3.0”
A 12.6% difference from #1 to #10 is not insignificant, though the raw speeds we’re talking about I can’t imagine the difference mattering at all. I was going to say ~3 Mbps is pathetic, any way you look at it, but I suppose since we’re just talking about Netflix streams it isn’t terribly important. I still haven’t seen the service, but I can’t imagine the streams are that great with such low bandwidth being used.
These reports are kind of a joke. In order to get enough bandwidth to make Netflix an option with The Big Three Idiots you have to buy a higher package, thus a faster speed.
With someone like Teksavvy you can get a lot more bandwidth at lower speeds for a lot less.
I use Teksavvy and for $44/ I get 150GB at 30mbps with no dips in speed. Why would I consider Rogers or Bell? They can’t compare. My Netflix runs beautifully and I dont miss the cord, in fact I watch more TV now than when I was on cable.
Netflix works fine for me on Bell 15mbps for around $40, so I’m not sure what your point is.
Bandwidth?

Look into “zap the cap”, it essentially gives you unlimited bandwidth (no cap) in exchange for a speed drop between 8pm and midnight. It’s only available on teksavvy.
