Koodo Debuts $59 Canada-Wide ‘SIM-Only’ Plan with 2GB Data
If you’re using an unlocked iPhone or other smartphone, Koodo has just introduced a new Canada-wide SIM-only plan for $59/month (does not apply to SK/MB/QC).
The plan already includes the No Tab discount (10% off; aka BYOD) plus:
- Unlimited anytime minutes (evenings and weekends, etc)
- 2GB of data; $10/500MB overages
- Unlimited SMS/MMS
- Canada-wide calling, includes Family calling
- Call display, voicemail, call waiting and conference calling

Fido and Virgin Mobile offer the same plan but it’s $63 after the BYOD discount. So Koodo’s plan is $4 cheaper at $59. This plan is not bad if you aren’t a heavy data user and have an unlocked iPhone. Let us know if you’re going to jump on this.

60$ with no subsidy is crap. crap . crap. when its 45$. call me back for a comment.
With Virgin Mobile, I see a $75 plan that matches this offer. At 10% BYOD isn’t that $76.50 per month. If it were the $63, it’d be something I would switch to with Virgin. Point me in the right direction if I am missing something…!
Virgin Silver plan here (scroll to the right) shows $70 for 2GB:

I see Virgin now has a matching $59 BYOD plan feature on their front page.
Good eye, thanks for the heads up!
Koodo’s closest plan is has 1 gig for $60/mo less the $6 BYOD, which works out to $56… $3/mo for the extra gig seems decent. As decent as any metered plan from the big 4 can feel, next to the likes of Wind Mobile, that is. And a far cry from the 5gb offered for $55 in sk/mb.
seriously considering paying the $50 to unlock my Rogers phone and switch to this.
Question: Does Koodo offer the 2GB of Data to be shared to an LTE iPad?
Luckily I got this plan over two years ago when they first introduced it. Happy ever since. Great carrier. Friendly service.
Fido DOES match this offer for BYOD. I know plenty of people that got it!
2GB = light user?
