Starbucks Canada to Launch iPhone Order-Ahead Feature, Add Beer & Wine in 2015
Starbucks has big expansion plans for Canada and that includes bringing its mobile order-and-pay service here in 2015, along with a menu expansion that will include beer, wine and tapas, reports the Toronto Star:
Also watch this year for Starbucks delivery, lots more drive-thrus on Hwy. 401 and a mobile pay-and-order option that will let customers use an app to make purchases and bypass lineups when they pick them up.
Starbucks Canada president Rossann Williams explained to The Star the ‘Starbucks Evenings’ menu (after 4PM) will include wine, beer and tapas, including flatbreads, olives, nuts and cheese (and bacon-wrapped dates, goat-cheese flatbread and parmesan-crusted chicken skewers) coming to Toronto and “other big cities” by the end of 2015. The initiative is to appeal to women, who make up 60% of customers and may not want to hit up ‘da’ club on ladies night.
Also coming are customized carbonized beverages plus new food items for Ontario and B.C., starting March 3; items will come from San Francisco’s La Boulange bakery, which the coffee chain acquired in 2012. The rollout will continue in June across all Canadian Starbucks locations.
Also, a Starbucks delivery service for downtown Toronto and other big cities is a possibility, if all goes well with trial tests in the U.S. this summer.
The iPhone order-ahead feature first debuted its beta testing in Portland, Oregon, back in December.
