Samsung ‘Bendgate’: Galaxy S6 Edge Bends Easier vs iPhone 6 Plus [VIDEO]

It seems like Apple’s so-called ‘bendgate’ was ages ago, based on claims customers had their iPhone 6 Plus units bend or warp in their pockets. Apple said at the time “with normal use a bend in iPhone is extremely rare.” Nevertheless, people still bent their phones on YouTube (because video views).

SquareTrade has now put the new Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge to a bend test versus the iPhone 6 Plus and the new HTC One M9. Its results? Turns out the Galaxy S6 Edge bent easier than the iPhone 6 Plus. What does this mean? “Bendgazi” is back and Samsung has fallen!

Youtube video

The video shows the iPhone 6 Plus bent at 110 pounds and reached its “catastrophic failure” at 179 pounds. While the Galaxy 6S Edge similarly bent at 110 pounds, its breaking point was at 149 pounds, which makes it easier to bend than the 6 Plus.

But unlike the iPhone 6 Plus, the Galaxy 6S Edge screen cracked under pressure at its initial bend point at 110 pounds. SquareTrade puts it, for Samsung fans, “they may have a pocket full of glass.”

Samsung is so good they even copied the ‘bending’ abilities of the iPhone 6 Plus but made it even better. (#BENDGATE)

When they’re using a machine to pressure test the phone, is it really all that surprising that they’d bend and break?

The simple point is this is rightfully taking a shot at the reject who started the whole bend gate bs in the first place: The douchebag youtuber Lewis Hilsenteger (aka unbox therapy).

Cheaply made. I thought it was obvious. I’m well aware of the prices.

I am actually happy for samsung, the whole “bendgate” thing will
definitely make the s6 and samsung more popular no matter in a good or bad way. Laugh everyone, share to everywhere you want, make this viral, and I’m sure this will make the s6 launch even more popular. 😀 haha

Best of luck to Samsung, it’s always easy to ride on Apple’s coat tails. I can’t wait to see their version of Apple Watch 🙂

I know right! They even came out a smartwatch 2 years ago. What a coincidence.

I know, it’s insane. Their smartwatches were so popular we don’t even hear about them today or their actual sales numbers. But I’m sure they did amazingly well.

Exactly! Its so popular to a point where you even know they have several watchES, I thought they only came up with one watch which is the gear s thing. I didn’t even know they came out several watches. You’re such a good lad!

I know, just call me Encyclopedia Brown of Samsung, right? I can’t wait for Samsung executives to say their new watch will not bend, but only to have a third party like SquareTrade reveal they will be easier to bend than Apple Watch, like the Galaxy S6 Edge.

no! i will call you gary, because that’s what your name suggests. What do you mean? I tot their new watch is slightly curved and bent already? Why are you being so negative predicting the Apple Watch will bend? It hasn’t even come out yet! Be faithful!

Well, that proves beyond a doubt that the devices are getting too thin for their own good. At this point there is only one thing left to do: laminate all of the electronics and the glass into one plate, but that’s about it.
