Videotron has announced this morning its 632,000 customers will experience expanded coast-to-coast coverage “from Gaspe to Vancouver, from Prairie roads to Laurentian lakeshores.”
Those on the company’s All Inclusive Canada plans will be able to talk, text and use data at no extra charge thanks to its agreement with ‘partner networks’, which we know traditionally one of them is Rogers.
Manon Brouillette, President and CEO of Videotron, said in a statement “Today’s announcement confirms our commitment to continue offering Quebec consumers and businesses the best experience, which is why Videotron has the highest customer satisfaction rate of any telecommunications provider in Quebec,” followed with “I am very pleased that in less than five years we have shaken things up in the Canadian marketplace, to the benefit of consumers across the country.”
The expanded network coverage will start May 13, 2015.

Unless they have their own network, they cannot offer prices lower than what Rogers offers. It is a step in the right direction, but, it’s going to be a few years yet until we have competitive (digital) rates.
If Videotron can sharing network with no extra charge, then I don’t think there’s a point for them to build their own network at all. They obviously can’t have lower price than the one that owns the network like you mentioned.
Building network is very expensive and not a guarantee profit in investment for a long time as well. Even if they do build a new network, the charge will go toward the customers.
This sharing network policy is going to haunt us Canadians in the near future.
