
iTunes Donations for Canadian Red Cross Disaster Relief in Nepal Now Possible [u]
Apple has informed us via email this evening it has activated an option to donate via iTunes towards the Canadian Red Cross disaster relief fund for Nepal earthquake victims, with 100% of proceeds going towards the Red Cross. Earlier today, the feature went live in the U.S. but was unavailable in Canada.
You can make a donation to the Canadian Red Cross by visiting iTunes.com/redcross–donation options range from $5 up to $200 and will be charged to your credit card linked to your iTunes account.
Earlier today, Canadian carriers joined in to help relief efforts. Bell donated $100,000 to the Red Cross, as did
Through The Mobile Giving Foundation Canada, you can text donations to the following charities easily from your cellphone:
- REDCROSS to 45678 to donate $10 or to 30333 to donate $5 to the Canadian Red Cross.
- NEPAL to 45678 to donate $10 through UNICEF.
- RELIEFNEPAL to 45678 to donate $10 through the UN World Food Programme.
TELUS/Koodo has also announced it has donated $100,000 in humanitarian grants for Nepal, while also announcing it will waive costs of calls and texts to the area for two weeks, as is Rogers/Fido (until May 12):
