Activist Investor Carl Icahn Still Believes an Apple Television is Coming

Apple and its long-rumoured but shelved plans for a television set are making waves it seems: Following the Wall Street Journal report claiming Apple had stopped working on the iTV about a year ago, activist analyst Carl Icahn appeared today on CNBC, saying that he can’t even know what the WSJ reporter says.

While speaking with the CNBC journalist, Carl Icahn reiterated his belief that Apple will do a television set. He kept on repeating what the report mentioned: Tim Cook has mentioned plenty of times that the television experience is stuck in the seventies and that he has a “grand vision” for it.

While Icahn didn’t disclose whether he spoke or not with Tim Cook to ask him about the television set, he said that the Wall Street Journal article is misleading: “Not what Tim Cook said or didn’t say, but the whole thing is ridiculous … I’m not backtracking in any way. I believe they will do a TV. That’s my belief.”

After asking for more share buybacks Icahn praised Tim Cook and the executive board for their work and support the CEO, and concluded that whether Apple does launch a television set or not is completely their decision.
