Fido Releases 20.1 Carrier Settings Update for Some iPhone Users [u]
Fido iPhone users probably saw a new carrier update pushed on the weekend, which now brings it to 20.1, as seen below for those using iOS 8.4 beta 4:

We’ve seen Rogers and Fido push out carrier settings updates before in the past for iOS 8 betas.
There’s no word on what was new with this update, but we have reached out to Fido for comment and will update this post. Previously, carrier settings updates usually involve network optimizations, which could improve LTE speeds. Did you get this update?
Update June 24, 2015: A Rogers representative told us via email this carrier update “provides support for LTE Advanced for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6+ on Fido.”

I got the Fido carrier update on Saturday June 20th… But I’m on iOS 8.3
Same. I’m on iOS 8.3 as well and just got notified to update to fido 20.1 by going to the About page in Settings.
iOS 8.3— Update 21.1
Pic or didn’t happen 🙂
iOS 8.3 20.1
I’ve had an iPhone for years and never noticed these, but I’ve only been with Fido for a couple months.
Not sure what the improvements might be. I’m hoping faster LTE.
I kinda wish they gave detailed information on what changes are made. I know I’m in the minority, but I find it very interesting. Any recent carrier update may be related to tuning the LTE settings to better support the new 700 MHz spectrum.
Hilarious!! I’m reading this and wondering how I didn’t received this yet, look at my phone and there it is!!! LOL
Magic!
Same here! Feels like being spied.
We know what you did last summer
I am running iOS 9 beta 2 and dont see any update. Still on 20.5.2..
Same… but wouldn’t 20.5.2 be a more recent one than 20.1?
hmm it should be..who cares about carrier updates when we are busy with Apple updates.
Update June 24, 2015: A Rogers representative told us via email this carrier update “provides support for LTE Advanced for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6+ on Fido.”
I notice I am now making calls over LTE with both iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus.
Yes I’m making calls on the LTE network now.
Can you post a screenshot with a call to 611? And of your Settings->Cellular page? Still going to 3G for me.
