New iCloud Web Feature Can Restore Your Deleted Files

Apple has just taken a tiny but important step toward improving its iCloud service: It has added a data restore feature, which means you can finally retrieve accidentally deleted files, documents, or calendar changes, and you can even restore your contacts to a previous (backup) version.

As noticed by a 9to5Mac reader Guarav, if you log in to iCloud.com, you’ll find new tabs under the Advanced Settings panel: Restore Files, Restore Contacts, and Restore Calendars and Reminders. When you click on any of these options, a dialog box appears, in which you can also have a tab for apps that allow people to look you up by your Apple ID.

If you choose the Restore Files tab, you’ll see a list of files you have recently deleted and the days remaining before those items will be permanently deleted.

The Restore Files feature has been around for some while now in other services such as Dropbox, and it is convenient, especially if you have deleted a file by mistake.
