Rogers Sportsnet NOW for iOS: Live Pro Sports for $24.99, No Cable Needed

Rogers has announced Sportsnet NOW for iOS, which the company says is the “First mainstream sports TV channel in North America to be available direct to consumers,” available for $24.99 per month, after a 7 day trial.

Sportsnet NOW will be available on iOS and online, with no contract needed and no cable subscription either, with the following channels and content available:

  • Live streaming of Sportsnet Ontario, East, Pacific, West, ONE, and 360
  • NHL (with regional blackouts), MLB, NBA, junior hockey, soccer, tennis, Grand Slam of Curling, IndyCar, CIS, Tour de France, and much more
  • Original programming such as Tim & Sid, Sportsnet Central, Hockey Central, Gotta See It, Misplays, Plays of the Month, and Sportsnet Presents

Rick Brace, President, Rogers Media said in a statement “We are committed to driving innovation in sport – and with this service, we’re bringing sports to our audiences in a new and exciting way.”

Rogers says Sportsnet NOW is coming soon to Apple TV, Chromecast and gaming consoles as well.

Sportsnet NOW is included for existing Sportsnet TV subscribers via their cable, IPTV, and satellite companies.

The company held a media briefing on this new Sportsnet initiative at their Rogers Campus, at the Sportsnet Central Studio this morning.

The initiative looks similar to what Rogers has been offering with Sportsnet World NOW, but this offering will most likely be tempting for cord-cutters that want their live NHL, NBA and NFL viewing the easy way on mobile, without dealing with free and unreliable third-party streams.

Let us know if you’re going to jump on Sportsnet NOW when it launches tomorrow, April 1.
