Gmail for iOS Gets Material Design, Faster Search, “Undo Send”
Google has today released a big update for its Gmail app for iOS, bringing a completely new design which is not only faster and more responsive, but also offers an “undo send” feature (available on the desktop) and significant improvements to search, among other enhancements. The updated Gmail app for the iPhone and iPad rolling out today, brings both design and functionality on par with the Android version.
All the basic features of Gmail app for iOS are still there, such as access to all your Gmail labels and the ability to add multiple accounts. However, the new design offers brighter colours and improved animations, emails have a small avatar of the sender, and the sidebar lets you switch accounts faster. Best of all, the handy “undo send” feature is now available in app. You now also have the option to swipe a message to automatically archive or delete it.
The search feature is now much faster too, with search results auto-populating as you type, which means you don’t have to finish a word or hit enter to find the email you’re looking for. Overall, the new app offers a much better Gmail experience on iOS.
How to select multiple emails in the new Gmail iOS update? Just tap and hold and then you’ll see an option to select multiple emails.
This is a pretty significant update that will take some getting used to, but for now the app works even better for power Gmail users, but still lacks 3D Touch Quick Actions for the homescreen icon.
