Unlocked iPhone X Canadian Pricing Starts at $1319 CAD, 256GB for $1529
Apple this morning announced iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and their “one more thing” moment was iPhone X, as we expected from iOS 11 GM leaks.

Apple Canada’s website is now back online, and pricing is available for iPhone X. Here it is below:
- 64GB iPhone X: $1319 CAD
- 256GB iPhone X: $1529 CAD
In comparison, prices in the United States are as follows:
- 64GB iPhone X: $999 USD
- 256GB iPhone X: $1149 USD
Of course, despite the recent rise of the Canadian dollar, Apple is pricing their local iPhone X a bit higher here, to fend off any currency fluctuations.
iPhone X pre-orders kick off on October 27th, while the phone will ship on November 3rd.

Might be worth buying this one in the ????????
Yea, that’s a tough FX rate conversion… 1.32 (1.33 on the 256gb!) vs current rate of 1.21. That’s basically a $110-120 difference.
Actually, $100 USD difference
I meant C$110-120 difference.
US$999 = $1,210 (@1.21 FX rate). Phone is C$1,319. Difference of C$110.
I guess we should technically also factor in sales tax too – 13% in Canada vs 0-9% depending on which state you’d buy it in the US.
13% in Canada? Oh, I guess it’s different in each province too. We pay 12.
Alberta pays 5%.
In Quebec we pay 14.95 🙂
Yes, but you have to consider paying tax twice: Once in the state where you buy it, and then again when you bring it into Canada. Unless you’re willing to smuggle it.
Buy it in Oregon… or another state that doesn’t charge tax… or there are online outfits like BHPhoto that don’t charge sales tax when you ship it outside of NY. Save yourself about $150.
I also recommend using myMallBox .com And is based in Delaware no sale Tax and you can customize box size and your custom form fill the value of the amount you want and no monthly fee for the warehouse
When shipped to Canada, you’ll pay Canadian taxes. You’d need to go to the States and then smuggle it in in order to get away.
wtf do you mean? if it’s for personal use you won’t get taxed bringing in
thats not smuggle, it is your personal device now, unless you want to resell it.
So this model that was rumored to be the 8 ended up being the X…..
Also the 8 is basically the 7S/7S Plus
The latest rumors over the weekend was calling it the X
Wow on the 256Gb model, that’s a 33% increase. The exchange rate today is a bit less than 22%. Kind of a gouge, Apple. Does anyone know if you can buy an unlocked iPhone in the States to use in Canada?
yes they do work in canada, make sure its unlocked
You can, but Apple products always have a notification on them that they are intended for use only in the country in which they were sold. I’m not sure if that means the warranty on a US bought phone would not be honoured in Canada. If not, it would be a pretty big risk at those prices.
The warranty would be honoured/honored.
If I buy a camera in Europe and use it in Canada, the company will not honor the warranty. But I think it’s different for North America/ Apple standards.
That’s like comparing Walmart and Costco’s return policies. Completely different.
Depends on the camera and company. You will find low risk where Apple will not honor the warranty. The note is there because there are sometimes phones specifically made for a region… like how Japan’s phones had FeliCa tech in them or how Verizon phones had a slightly different chipset. The language means that you can’t buy a US phone and say why doesn’t it work in my country… however manufacturer defects are another matter.
If you buy from Apple you’re covered internationally.
Yes, but in the US they don’t start selling the unlocked (sim-free) models till a few months after release.
You can buy an unlocked phone outright from apple on day 1. You just choose the T-Mobile phone if you have too. Applecare is available and can be serviced/exchange at any Apple Store in the world.
Source: I live in Canada but buy my phones in the states. Have used Apple care in the US, Canada, England, and Germany (even had the phone replaced there) with zero problems.
Thank you so much, Kevin. I am planning on getting my iPhones X in the US, but wasn’t sure about unlocked models. Googling about T-Mobile seems to indicate that you’re right — T-Mobile is the way to go!
Yeah but what about network lock? Price is the same – why not chase unlocked model? You may as well buy a Verizon one then – those support same bands and come SIM unlocked.
If you do things “legitimately” you’ll be on the hook for state plus provincial taxes, GST, and maybe duty when you return back to Canada. If you do the math, you will see it won’t be worth it to by in the USA.
Yes, not a problem. Works like a charm!
64gb for me. I still can’t justify $1529 + tax for a phone and I make over 6 figures a year. Apple is starting to price itself too high even for those with money.
64 is unusable for me at this point. I would have thought apple would start at 125GB for their badass phone that shoots 4k video.
Exactly. This is their uber flagship, the 10th anniversary phone that, indirectly, honours Steve Job and the “revolution” of the first iPhone. Yet, the base model storage is pathetic, they’re including the cheap and horrible regular earpods and the anemic 5w charger.
So will any of these work with Freedom Mobile like expected?
Yes they all will.
How about the new watch? And I’m wondering if the Watch will work on Virgin’s network since it is a part of Bell.
Sorry I don’t know the answer to that.
I’m more concerned about how much extra the big three will charge us for using it. 🙁
Yeah, the keynote said the carriers will be offering “special pricing” for the Watch Series 3. The only thing is, in Canada with the Big 3, “special” just means paying more than expected instead of less.
us carriers are starting to say 10 a month so likely 49.95 a month on bell and Telus lol
the new watch is a no go for freedom
sad panda, i really hoped to but the watch
…plus $ 249 for Apple Care now. WTF?
Yeah, this was a big shocker. Rumours predicted the X to start around $1k USD so the prices weren’t that surprising when they came out, but the increase in Apple Care is a dealbreaker for me.
I agree. I was very tempted, but the additional $ 100 is just like a slap in the face. Plus you still have to pay extra to get it fixed (for an accidental drop). I imagine, the screen will cost you $ 39, but the back plate (which is also glass, may end up costing you even more).
Any idea when the iPhone X will be in stores for us to get a hands-on?
Nov3
If Canadian carriers charged $800 for the iPhone 7Plus 256GB model that unlocked cost $1,309 last year…safe to say the carrier cost of the iPhone X 64GB might be around $820 plus tax. Over $900 all in.
What difference does it make?
You’ll probably be paying the list price any way, just the payments will be spread out over 2 years.
Depending on what plan you currently have, you would potentially pay more for the phone in the long run than if you bought it outright.
Currently I pay 70 a month for my plan. 2gb and everything else unlimited. Now lets say I wanted the Note 8, the cheapest my plan would be is 115$ a month. So 45$ over 24 months would be 1080$ plus the cost of the device of 621$ after tax. The total after two years would be 1700. It would cost 250$ more than buying outright.
64GB is too small, the 256 is way more than I need. In order to get the space I need, I’d have to go with the 256; in other words, paying for storage I’ll never use.
Yup, I’m in the exact same boat. $200 bucks extra for space I don’t need sucks. Why couldn’t they have at 128GB as the base option? Gah.
Yup, I agree 64GB is too small. Base on the X should have been 128GB.
It’s strategic marketing.
Same! I have 128 right now and hover around using 80-100 for the most part!
Lol seriously? The currencies analyst says the currency wont drop below 78 cent for at least the next year. Should had been priced at 1240 canadian
Apple has always for many years now **** us Canadians in terms of exchange rates.
Apple was one of the first companies to lower their prices to reflect parity when the dollar was there.
That was when Jobs was alive!
If Jobs was here today there would be no difference in the pricing.
why November ????
I think I’ll stick with my iPhone 6s as this doesn’t really have any overwhelmingly compelling features to upgrade for.
Hell, my iPad Pro costs less than the top of the line phone now. Really quite hilarious.
The iPhone 6s has been said to be the last “best” iPhone because it has a physical HOME button plus it uses standard headphones. All the other bells and whistles including privacy implications are unnecessary. The iPhone is still a PHONE!
Good points
You’re right! Who needs dust and water resistance? Or dual cameras for 2x optical zoom? Or image stabilization or a faster processor or more RAM or OLED display or 5.8”
Screen in a handset smaller than a Plus…… as long as you have that headphone jack! Hahaha
Done fine without all of those things until now
The operative word there is: until. ????
Just ignore what others are doing and be yourself.
You should try it sometime #sheeple
I am my own unique self my friend ????
Thank you for agreeing with me! Bwahaha.
My guess is Apple will sell a ton of iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, and not many iPhone X due to this pricing. Just way out of reach for most people.
There is a lot of pent up demand for a design refresh. I think they will have a backlog for months. People will spend the money because of the exclusivity.
Sheeple mentality is on the rise. Is it any wonder that physicists Stephen Hawkin says earth will be destroyed in a 100 years?
and what will happen next will be exactly opposite. happens every year.
Maybe in Canada….too many Sheeple in the USA that have misplaced priorities and can’t wait for Apple to take their money.
every time apple releases a product, any product, a lot of whining and bitching going on, yet the sell even more than previous year lol
True lol
It’s called venting. Ever heard of it? It helps people remain sane and off the antidepressant train.
Don’t worry, they don’t have that many to sell anyway. They’ll sell as many as they can make. If everyone could buy it, they wouldn’t even come close to fulfilling all the orders.
Ok, Apple. Mess around with your customers with your capacity more.
Skipping 128GB yeah right.
I have an iPhone 7 plus 128GB. they lowered too much the price because theres 2 new models now so the price is terrible to sell an used one. I don’t want to pay $1320 + TAX and downgrade to 64GB. They need a 128GB option for this price
What are you talking about? I have 7+ 128 GB version. Our phones are still good. If you’re worried about performance and RAM, don’t update to iOS 11.
The 7s are being phased out. Apple wants people to ditch previous models and buy 8 and X.They tactfully got rid of the 128 GB because they make more # selling the 64 and 256 versions.
Thats what im saying… not going to upgrade mine this year. not worth it at all
Why though even consider upgrading? It’s not like our phones are 2 or 3 years old. Don’t let yourself be influenced by the hype. It’s good though you’re not upgrading, but I think most people who didn’t upgrade last year will do so this year.
Just that the screen is awesome. but not enough to make me spend the $
Yes and there will always be something better next year…keep reminding yourself of that 🙂
i buy new iphone every year, sell the old one, add some money and get new phone, if you didn’t scratch your current phone a lot of ppl are willing to pay a decent amount for a used factory unlocked iphone in good state.
I wish I was as rich as you!
I just sold my 7 plus (same model as you) yesterday for $850, some people are willing to pay a good price if it’s in good condition. For now, I’m using my old Blackberry.
Nice!
Blackberry (!)
32% exchange rate!
Currency changes everyday. They change their phones once a year. Their prices reflect the dollar at the time with a cushion for fluctuation. This is NOT new and certainly NOT exclusive to Apple. ALL companies do this. A perfect example is ecobee. The ecobee 3 is $299CND and $199USD. The ecobee 4 is ONLY available in the US and ecobee is a TORONTO company. So lets temper the currency complaints because this anything but new, and anything but exclusive to Apple.
STOP making excuses and trying to rationalize the cost. It’s not working.
It’s not rationalizing, it’s reality. Stop being so angry that companies want to make money. If you don’t like it don’t buy it. That’s my one and half cents for you, to give you two.
I’m not being angry.
I suggest you stop posting bias comments where you defend everything Apple does, you sound really pathetic. Add some balance to things…..wait a minute, you can’t because you’re blinded by Apple’s light, lol.
Your maturity is overwhelming. I don’t always agree with Apple and often criticize them when they make decisions I believe are in correct. Having said that, since you appear to lack a grasp on business and economics this conversation is moot.
Edited my comments out… that’s pretty stupid.
1500 dollars, what a joke, 1grand is more than enough for the hardware we are buying but Apple is hellbent on charging one thousand, five hundred dollars for this tech? Voluntary financial slavery…
Sadly, it’s monkey see, monkey do. Those days of getting a decent phone with features and storage for under $1000 are now gone.
“those days”… i remember getting a decent cellphone for under $100…
If you’re old enough to remember when cell phones came out? They were over a $1000. But that’s because there wasn’t much demand. These days, there is no logical reason for them to be so high.
It’s all about profit margins!
So are you getting the silver or the space grey?
Oh, I’ll wait for the nail polish red SPLC version that will be 1800…
hahahha epic
How much is the Note 8 in Canada?
1300 which is stupid as well.
Thank goodness for the money I have accumulated on my Rogers credit card!
My $350 credit isn’t going to go very far on this thing! LOL
Every little bit helps! I won’t mention how much I have.
Wow….for the $256 GB version, those in BC will be paying more than $1712 plus electronics levy.
Of course, leave it to the marketing pros and their tactics to have people put up a down payment and then spread the payments over the life of their contract making everything seem “reasonable” or “acceptable” just to have the latest iPhone.
Six figure here and I can’t afford it. Sorry I choose to go with surface book.
Seven figures here… I’m cool. Hahaha oh wait I meant fingers not figures… oh wait I meant ten… ah crap ????
I remember when people bitched 32gb wasn’t enough. Now it’s 64gb. First world problems I guess lol.
…and I remember when a 56k dial-up modem was plenty fast for anyone’s needs. As technology changes, and larger apps and digital media becomes the norm, storage needs invariably change as well.
Gah…$1750 after taxes. As much as I’d love to upgrade to the X, (i’m still rocking a iPhone 6), the practical side of me kicks in and says no.
Include in the exact same boat. Might go from my 6 to a 7 instead since the X is priced like a mid to high tangent laptop. I can’t justify the spend (and I make six figures).
I’m in*
$1750 is like 4 car payments, someone mortgage payment, a nice 5 star vacation…lol
If anything i may do the 8/8 plus but since the pricing of the 7/7s dropped, I’ll have to think about it.
I think people should stop complaining. The iPhone X is expensive because it has great, advanced technology built to it. And it’s gonna be a blockbuster.
And Donald Trump is Grrreeat too! Sound logic you have there fay!
iPhone X, is a phone priced for the 1% crowd. That pricing is nuts! Hopefully sales are slow and they reduced the price next year.
Not really. So many people these days are so easily manipulated by marketing, trends, and hype. If they have to donate their kidney to be part of the sheeple heard (whatever heard they want to fit-in) they will get into debt or make sacrifices to satisfy their pathetic egos.
Just look at the unofficial survey above? It’s flawed of course. No mention option to select (none of the above).
I can’t seem to find how to do a hard reset with the X when before you could just push home & power button
Can you show us your Iphone X that you are using?
I think he’s using it in his head, and can’t figure out the reset process.
It might be power and volume button, like it is for screenshot.
It will likely be sleep/wake button and down volume, same as on 7/7 Plus.
That’s nuts. And while I appreciate they’re not used for the same thing, consider the $1319 is $20 more than the base Macbook and 13″ MacBook Pro, and $300 more than the 13″ MacBook Air (all three enjoying an unadvertised price drop) – while the iPad Pro has actually been cranked up in price.
Wanna guess which OS Apple is gambling on in the future – that is, which one makes them the most profit?
But the Macolytes will be lining up for their new toy…
Huh? Methinks you’re comparing iPhone X CAD pricing with MacBook USD pricing… the base 12″ MacBook and 13″ MacBook Pro start at $1729 CAD…
Oops. Quite so. My bad. Still, at $1319, that’s $120 more than the base MacBook Air 13″ ($CDN1199), or $450 more than the base iPad Pro 10.5 ($CDN869). And still nuts.
this is becoming too expensive of an annual hobby..
I’ve already started my iPhone X bottle drive
