Nest Launches Secure Alarm System, Hello Video Doorbell and IQ Outdoor Camera

Nest has just announced a new home security system, an internet-connected video doorbell and an outdoor version of its IQ security camera at a media event in San Francisco (via Pocket-Lint). The Google-owned company has unveiled an all new Nest Secure alarm system, its first-ever video doorbell called the Nest Hello, and a Nest Cam IQ outdoor security camera, in addition to Google Assistant integration into Nest products.

Nest Secure

The Nest Secure alarm system starter pack (US $499), which has been designed to alert you of intruders, includes a Nest Guard security base, which provides the alarm, keypad and motion sensor, a battery-powered Nest Detect, which detects both motion and open or close movement, and a Nest Tag fob that can attach to a keychain, allowing you to easily arm or disarm Nest Secure without a passcode.

The Nest Hello video doorbell, that works much like the Nest Cam but as a video doorbell, can detect a person, then send an alert and a snapshot. Also, with the Nest Aware subscription, you can get alerts when stuff is detected. It will be available in the US and Canada from early 2018, and Europe later next year. There’s no word yet on pricing.

Finally, the new Nest Cam IQ outdoor security camera, which is a redesigned version of the original Cam IQ indoor security camera, is tamper resistant and has weatherproof components. In the U.S., it will cost US $349, or US $598 for a two-pack. Canadian pricing has not yet been revealed.

Nest IQ

Google also announced its Voice Assistant integration with Nest products, starting with the  Cam IQ indoor security camera. The feature will become available via a software update for all current and new customers later this year.
