Tim Hortons Mobile App Giving Away 1 Million Free Coffees of Any Size

Tim Hortons is celebrating National Coffee Day by kicking off a giveaway, offering up to 1 million free coffees of any size, when customers download and place a mobile order from their iOS or Android app.

Starting today, Friday, September 29 to October 8, a free Original Blend, Dark Roast, Decaf or Iced Coffee of any size will be free, available when users place a mobile order, at participating locations.

“Our goal with digital is to take everything our Guests love about Tim Hortons and extend it from the Restaurant to their phones,” said Steve Greenwood, President of Digital, Tim Hortons, in an emailed statement to iPhone in Canada. “We are humbled by the initial reaction from users and delighted to share this new offer with our Guests to celebrate National Coffee Day.”

At the time of publishing, it appears this promotion has caused the Tim Hortons iPhone app and the coffee chain’s servers to be overwhelmed, as it wasn’t able to load past its launch screen. All we’re seeing is a non-stop spinner wheel and “loading”:

Tim Hortons launched their new mobile order and pay iOS app back in July. It allows customers to place any order and requires customers to preload their balance in minimum $10 increments, with support for Apple Pay in-app payments.

Click here to download Tim Hortons for iPhone in the App Store—and let us know if you get your free coffee (if the app loads).

I ordered a large coffee for pickup at my local timmies and loaded $10 onto my account. Was charged $1.98 and no free coffee in site lol.

Is Timmies trolling me?

On the app it said I had redeemed my free coffee but I still got charged. Had no issues on placing an order.

I spent 5 minutes trying to remember my Fort Knox-security level password. After trying a password reset and having it time-out repeatedly, I gave up.

No thanks, Tim Hortons; keep your free fucking coffee.
