You Can Now Watch Vimeo in HDR on iPhone X, Apple TV 4K and 2017 iPad Pro

As reported by Engadget, Vimeo has just added support for both High Dynamic Range (HDR) and 8K videos, while announcing that it is currently the only video hosting service to support HDR video playback on Apple TV 4K, iPad Pro and iPhone X.

For those who aren’t aware, while 8K video playback requires a very high resolution display, HDR can however be enjoyed on any device that supports HEVC video playback using HDR10.

“This won’t necessarily make a difference in your day-to-day viewing unless your favorite internet video producers upload to Vimeo. With that said, this could be important if you’re the one producing videos. You now have another place to upload video at extremely high quality, and it will be viewable on more devices.”

Vimeo has also announced that it will soon enable HDR for more video formats, including VP9 and AV1. Meanwhile, conventional video remains available on the platform, with ability to download videos at their full quality if you want to share them or don’t have the bandwidth to stream them smoothly.
