To help you celebrate the New Year on your wrists, Apple has slipped in an Apple Watch easter egg in the form of animated fireworks, similar to the way the animated balloons appear on the Apple Watch face when its your birthday.
The Easter egg works for all Apple Watch models and watch faces, beginning automatically as soon as the time reads 00:00. However, in case you missed it at midnight, the animation can be repeated in the Apple Watch Notification Center. Simply swipe down in the Notification Center and tap the Happy New Year notification message.
Apple introduced these visual celebrations for the Apple Watch when watchOS 4 was rolled out earlier in 2017.
