Apple Adding New Privacy Icons to iOS and macOS, Will Help Prevent iCloud Phishing Attacks

Earlier today, Apple released the first beta of iOS 11.3 with a bunch of big features, but it looks like the company has a few smaller surprises in store.

The new beta has a feature that will make it easier for you to tell when apps are trying to access your personal data. Apple has made it easier to tell if you’re being lured into a phishing attack with its new privacy screen.

When an app requeststo use your personal information, a privacy icon will now be displayed so you know if sensitive data is being collected. Here is what it looks like:

Apple says that the icon won’t be displayed every time with every feature, but it is being used to build a more secure foundation for iOS. The new privacy icon is also being used in the first beta of macOS 10.13.4.

For now, these features are only available to developers, but it will make its way to the public when iOS 11.3 launches this spring.
