‘Service’ for iOS Now Tracks Hotel Prices Automatically to Save You Money

Service for iOS aims to save travellers money, by automatically chasing airlines when there’s a flight delay and getting users compensation. Today, it has introduced a new feature to monitor hotel price drops.

When you book a hotel room, Service will continue to monitor the price, but when it detects a price drop, it will automatically rebook for you at the lower rate. For now, it will work for rooms booked via directly on a hotel’s website, but soon will add aggregator sites such as Travelocity, Expedia, etc, reports Quartzy.

CEO and Founder of Service, Michael Schneider, told the publication “I think anytime a business sets a price and then just hopes that no one re-checks the price is a poor business practice. It may be profitable, but it’s not good for building trust.”

This feature is on top of its service where it automatically files a claim for your eligible past and future flight disruptions. In order for Service to work though, it will require access to view your email (such as Gmail), so it can find emails related to travel.

If you travel often or even casually, Service says it will help save you money effortlessly. Service has two options for users—they can pay $50 annually for the service, or they can opt to give a 30% commission of what Service recovers for you.

Nearly a year ago, Service said it saved users over 5000 hours of time and helped recover over $1 million from businesses they were unhappy with—automatically. The company says “On average, our users get over $100 in travel vouchers or miles after sign up. And $600 in hotel and airline savings every year.”
