Toronto-based Carrot Rewards is an app which rewards Canadians by staying active, funded in parly by federal and provincial governments in B.C., Ontario and Newfoundland and Labrador.
Today, Carrot Rewards has launched a new Step Together Challenge, which coincides on the app’s two year anniversary, which lets Canadians team up with their friends to earn more rewards. The new program is being touted as “ the world’s first peer-to-peer rewards for physical activity.”
In order to participate, users just need to partner up with friends and family by clicking the “Invite” button under the Step Together Challenge, and share their user code. Next, Carrot Rewards says “between the two of you, achieve 10 daily goals in 7 days to win the challenge!”
A promo to drum up buzz for this new Step Together Challenge, those participating will see double the points over the next two weeks.
“We are incredibly proud to broaden our impact on the daily behaviours of Canadians in such a significant way,” said Andreas Souvaliotis, Founder and CEO of Carrot Rewards, in a press release. “The Step Together Challenge offers our users the ability to team up to get even more active and earn even more of their favourite reward points. This new layer of social support, paired with the power of incentives, is a natural evolution for the Carrot platform, will result in even stronger social impact!”
According to the CEO, over 1 billion loyalty points have been awarded to Canadians, with nearly 1 million app downloads on iOS and Android, in two years after launching in BC. According to Carrot Rewards, the app has resulted in an “unprecedented” 20 per cent average increase in daily physical activity amongst its “hundreds of thousands” of users, which reached 600,000 in January of this year.
As for Carrot Rewards expanding to other provinces across Canada, their website states “We are working on bringing Carrot to all Canadians, but have not yet signed an agreement with the governments of the remaining provinces and territories.”
Currently, Aeroplan Miles, More Rewards Points, SCENE Points, Petro-Points, and Drop rewards are supported on the platform.
