MLSE Partners with Waze, Helps Leafs and Raptors Fans Get to the Game Quickly

The MLSE has announced a partnership with Waze, YinzCam and Orbital to help create the ultimate fan experience.

All three companies will help enhance the experience of both the Toronto Raptors app and Toronto Maple Leafs app by providing access to exclusive perks and features. The MLSE will be providing fans with a completely connected and digital experience whether they are watching the game at home or in the stands.

In a statement, the MLSE’s director of product development Neem Ba Ha said:

“Creating memorable moments for fans, especially with the start of exciting playoff runs for both teams, was the inspiration behind the new features on both apps. With YinzCam and Waze, we developed a platform for both Raptors and Maple Leafs fans that will bring them closer to their teams whether they are in the arena or watching the game at home. This is how fans want to connect with their teams now and we are proud to work with some of the world’s best providers to deliver a first-class experience for our fans.”

YinzCam is looking to create a one-stop shop for everything Raptors and Leafs, including real-time game updates, in-app purchases for team merchandise, and provide fans with access to mobile contests and giveaways. In a statement, CEO and Founder of YinzCam Priya Narasimhan said:

“It’s refreshing to see human-centred design thinking being used in sports. We work with hundreds of teams and technology projects, and MLSE is the only team that uses this type of process. This is how products should be developed.”

Waze is looking for a way to get fans to the games they love a lot quicker, because being stuck in traffic is the last thing you want when you’re heading to a sports game. In a statement, Country Manager for Waze Canada said:

“Traffic is a universal problem, especially on game day where there is an increase in vehicles on the road. As a member of our Global Event Partners (GEP) program, MLSE is empowered with free traffic tools to manage congestion around their venues in a way that was not previously possible. Additionally, MLSE has the ability to update Waze with event parking, including temporary parking locations. All of this real-time information and updates have made a huge impact not only on fans traveling to the events but on all citizens traveling city-wide.”

In a statement, President and Founder of Orbital Nick Tomkin said:

“Often when we’re proposing emerging digital engagement, there is a certain level of uncertainty about diving in and trying something new,” said Nick Tomkin, President and Founder of Orbital. “Luckily, MLSE was already excited to get started. The objective was to create real and meaningful experiences for their fans, and using the Orbital Augmented Reality Platform, MLSE can deploy new augmented experiences to their apps instantly without requiring any additional development or downloads.”

The new experience is rolling out just in time for the 2017-2018 NHL and NBA playoff season and is only the beginning of what is to come.
