Public Mobile Promo: $8 Plan After Autopay with 50 Nationwide Minutes, 50 Global Texts [u]
Telus prepaid brand Public Mobile launched a new promo yesterday, offering a 30-day plan for $10 which includes 50 Canada-wide minutes and 50 international text messages. After Autopay (monthly credit card renewal), the plan works out to $8 every 30 days.

The plan also includes unlimited incoming texts, voicemail and call display. Public Mobile says calls to voicemail “will deduct from in-plan minutes”, so beware of that.
While this plan may seem like an April Fool’s Day joke given its paltry offering, it’s targeted towards people who rarely use their phone, or need minutes for a backup phone. This plan could reduce in price if you refer friends to Public Mobile (at the discount of $1/month off per friend) and also if you stay long enough, the company’s Loyalty Reward program could take this plan down to $3 per month after Autopay, in five years ($8-$5).
As of writing, Bell’s prepaid brand, Lucky Mobile, currently offers the same plan for $10, but it is not eligible for a monthly autopay discount. Update: Rogers’ Chatr does not offer a similar plan like its prepaid rivals. now offers a similar plan on its website.

Article is incorrect, chatr does in fact offer this plan currently
I see it now, but as of writing this morning it was not on the Chatr site.
It’s been on the chatr website since late March
If you call any cellphone provider and ask for this plan they will give it to you rather then cancel the line
