New Spotify Mobile App Coming Next Week at Media Event

Subscribers of streaming music service and Apple Music’s biggest competitor, Spotify, can expect new changes coming next week for its mobile app.

According to The Verge, a newly updated Spotify press invite confirms their April 24th  event will unveil new changes for the streaming service’s mobile app.

The event will have presentations from Spotify’s chief R&D officer Gustav Söderström, vice president of product development Babar Zafar, and global head of creator services Troy Carter.

What could debut at this Spotify event? The company is apparently testing voice control for some iOS users for a faster navigational experience, while a recent Bloomberg report noted its free streaming tier will see a revamp, offering more control for mobile users.

The Spotify iOS app with a premium subscription, as it stands right now, feels like a better app than Apple Music. It offers quicker access to popular playlists, trending songs, easier skipping of songs with swiping, plus ‘Behind the Lyrics’ powered by Genius and more.

Spotify is better for music discovery, but their “Add to queue” system is dysfunctional and frustrating. If they fix that with the new app *maybe* I’ll switch back.

I hope they’ll keep the dark theme. I’m an Apple music subscriber, but I always prefered the design of the spotify app.. The reason why I’m with Apple music is for convenience with all my iTunes library, and for some rasons, the sound quality seems to be better on the mobile app compared to spotify for me.
